Carstensz Pyramid – highest mountain in Oceania, New – Guinea – 4,884 m The Carstensz – Pyramide, called “Puncak Jaya” by the natives, is named after the Dutch navigator Jan Carstensz. The summit rises from the rainforest and is often surrounded by fog. The area is inhabited by natives, which for the most part have never seen people apart from their own island. For this reason, some expeditions speak about a journey back to the stoneage.
