Highest mountain of the world and highest peak of asia

Mount Everest – 8.848 m, Himalaya, Tibet

Highest mountain in Asia and all over the world – Mount Everest – 8,848 m

Mount Everest, also called Chomolungma, is situated in Nepal near the border to China. Like the whole range of the Himalaya, Mount Everest resulted from the continental drift through the clash of the Indian plate with the plate of Eurasia. The climatic conditions on top of the mountain, which is named after the British surveyer Sir Georg Everest, are extreme: temperatures drop to -60° C, heavy storms and snow falls with about 3 m/day are not that out of the ordinary. The first ascent succeeded in 1953, when Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the top of the world.
